PINE BLUFF, AR --The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team offense put on a ball-movement clinic at home Monday, recording 18 assists on 28 made shots, but the Golden Lions fell to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 87-82.
The Golden Lions had four players score in double figures, led by Quion Williams, who had 19 points, six rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Milhan Charles added 19 points and two steals and Jaquan Scott helped out with 16 points.
UAPB forced 17 Bethune-Cookman turnovers. The Golden Lions turned those takeaways into 23 points on the other end of the floor. Alex Mirhosseini's four steals led the way for UAPB.
How It Happened
After falling behind 26-25, UAPB went on a 9-0 run with 4:39 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Mirhosseini, to take a 34-26 lead. The Golden Lions then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 37-32 advantage.
UAPB then surrendered that advantage as Bethune-Cookman forced overtime by tying things up at 69-69 by the end of the second half. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 32 points in the lane.
Bethune-Cookman then took control in overtime and won 87-82.
