PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team dropped a conference game to the Prairie View A&M Panthers 73-61 on the road Monday.
The Golden Lions had two players score in double figures, led by Alex Mirhosseini, who had 17 points. Quion Williams tacked on 15 points and nine rebounds and Milhan Charles added six points and three blocks.
Williams pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the UAPB offense which grabbed 13 boards and turned them into 11 second chance points.
UAPB did a great job disrupting Prairie View A&M shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Charles' three rejections led the way individually for the Golden Lions.
How It Happened
After falling behind 25-19, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 5:11 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Mirhosseini, to tie the game at 25. Prairie View A&M then pulled ahead, sending the Golden Lions into halftime down 32-30.
Prairie View A&M kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 69-51 advantage before UAPB went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 69-56 with 1:22 to go in the contest. The Golden Lions kept their comeback going, holding the lead with 16:25 left to play, but Prairie View A&M managed to hold on for the 73-61 win. UAPB got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for nine of its 31 total points.
