Eugene, OR.- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's track and field team is set to showcase its talent on the national stage at the NCAA Outdoor National Championship at the legendary Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon with coverage airing live on ESPN.
The Golden Lions 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Dwight Henry, Jared Sylvester, Avindale Smith, and Ross Walrond delivered a historic performance at the NCAA West First Round, clocking a blazing season-best time of 38.96 seconds. Their performance not only secured a spot in the national finals but also earned them the No. 10 national ranking entering the championship.
In addition, sophomore Jordan Pierre stamped his ticket to Eugene with a strong performance in the 400 meters, finishing seventh overall with an impressive time of 45.75 seconds.
"This is a moment these young men have worked for all year," said UAPB Head Track & Field Coach Chris McCoy. "To compete on this stage, against the nation's best, and to represent Pine Bluff and the entire SWAC, it's special. We're ready to leave it all on the track."
