NACOGDOCHES, TX - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team got a big game from Eli Gries-Smith, who recorded two extra base hits in a 13-3 loss to the SFA 'Jacks Friday.
Kenney Fabian got the ball to start for UAPB and took the loss.
Gries-Smith's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-4 day, and included a double, a home run and three RBI. Trinidad DeLaGarza put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double. Jesus Riera also contributed for the Golden Lions, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Lions got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. UAPB plated two runs when Gries-Smith left the yard with Gavin Terry aboard.
After the 'Jacks rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Golden Lions came back to retake the lead in the second inning. UAPB pushed across a run on Gries-Smith's two-out RBI double, which brought the Golden Lions lead to 3-2. The Golden Lions were unable to hold the lead, as SFA scored 11 times over the remaining six innings to grab the 13-3 win.
