#UAPBBaseball: UAPB Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for Third Consecutive Year

PINE BLUFF, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball program has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in the classroom, earning the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack. It marks the third consecutive year the Golden Lions have received the prestigious national honor, following recognition during the 2024-25 and 2023-24 academic years.

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes high school and collegiate baseball programs that achieve a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale throughout the academic year while meeting additional eligibility requirements established by the association.

The Golden Lions were among more than 500 collegiate baseball programs nationwide recognized by the ABCA this year. Overall, the organization honored more than 800 high school and college baseball programs that posted a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0 during the 2025-26 academic year.

Following the conclusion of the spring semester, coaches were invited to nominate their teams for the award before the July 17 deadline. To qualify for the award, programs were required to:

Be a high school or collegiate baseball program.
Have a head coach who is a current member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Post a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year.

The recognition continues a strong tradition of academic achievement for the Golden Lions baseball program, highlighting the program's commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom. The three consecutive ABCA Team Academic Excellence Awards reflect the culture of academic accountability that has become a hallmark of the program.

The American Baseball Coaches Association has recognized excellence in baseball for generations. Founded in 1945, the ABCA sponsors numerous national awards, including the prestigious ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams, first established in 1949, as well as regional honors, Coach of the Year awards, the ABCA Hall of Fame, and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
