PINE BLUFF, AR --The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team got a 35-point showing from the bench, but fell 79-76 to the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at home Saturday.
The Golden Lions (3-18, 0-8) had three players score in double figures, led by Doctor Bradley, who had 29 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Raphael Dumon added 12 points off of the bench and Dante Sawyer helped out with 12 points off of the bench.
Led by Bradley's three offensive rebounds, UAPB did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in 14 second chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 26-18, UAPB went on a 5-0 run with 5:16 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Chop Paljor, to narrow its deficit to 26-23. Mississippi Valley State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Golden Lions down 33-29 entering halftime.
Mississippi Valley State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 63-55 advantage before UAPB went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Caleb Jones' layup, to shrink the deficit to 63-61 with 7:11 to go in the contest. Mississippi Valley State responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 79-76. UAPB took care of business in the paint, recording 32 of its 47 points in the lane.
