PINE BLUFF, AR --The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team got a 28-point performance from the bench, but fell 83-67 to the Southern Jaguars at home Saturday.
The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Doctor Bradley, who put together a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Quentin Bolton Jr. added 11 points and three steals and Dante Sawyer chipped in as well with 11 points off of the bench.
The UAPB offense was very productive from beyond the arc, pouring in eight threes on 20 attempts. Caleb Jones was the most prolific shooter for the Golden Lions, draining two treys in the contest.
UAPB forced 15 Southern turnovers. The Golden Lions turned those takeaways into 13 points on the other end of the floor. Bolton Jr.'s three steals led the way for UAPB.
How It Happened
After falling behind 27-14, UAPB went on an 11-0 run with 9:48 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Zach Reinhart, to narrow its deficit to 27-25. Southern answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Golden Lions down 43-37 entering halftime.
Southern kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 74-52 advantage before UAPB went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Bolton Jr.'s layup, to shrink the deficit to 74-59 with 3:48 to go in the contest. Southern responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 83-67. UAPB capitalized on eight Southern turnovers in the period, collecting eight points off those turnovers.
