BATON ROUGE, LA --The UAPB volleyball team won the first set, but couldn't hang on and lost 3-1 (25-17, 14-25, 15-25, 16-25) to the Southern Lady Jaguars Sunday on the road at Seymour Gymnasium.

The loss dropped UAPB's record to 3-15 overall and 1-3 in SWAC action.

Zykia Jones finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Lady Lions offense. got 10 digs from Anaiah Jordan to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Lions won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to secure the first set 25-17. UAPB led by as many as eight points at 10-2 before finishing off the set.

SET 2 | UAPB then lost set two 25-14, evening the match at a set apiece. The Lady Lions dropped the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | UAPB fell again in the third set to make it a 2-1 deficit. The Lady Lions lost a tough set 25-15. UAPB trailed by as many as 10 points as Southern grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up five times before the Lady Jaguars took over the lead.

SET 4 | UAPB lost set four and the match, falling 25-16. The Lady Lions trailed by as many as nine points as Southern grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 and UAPB wasn't able to recover in a set that was knotted up just once before the Lady Jaguars took over.
