PINE BLUFF, AR --The UAPB volleyball team took the first set, but couldn't hold on and lost in four sets (25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 17-25) to the Texas Southern Lady Tigers Sunday at home at HO Clemmons Arena.

The Lady Lions attack was paced by Zykia Jones, who finished with 11 kills on the day, and by Marlina Anderson, who had 10. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as MacKenzie McDowell had 17 and Anaiah Jordan had 11.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Lions opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-22. UAPB never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that had just one lead change before the Lady Lions took over in the second half of the stanza. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Texas Southern attacks in the stanza.

SET 2 | UAPB then fell in the second set 25-19, evening things at a set each. The Lady Lions fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | A third-set loss put UAPB down 2-1. The Lady Lions couldn't survive a furious Texas Southern rally, falling 25-22 after leading by seven points at 16-9 earlier in the set.

SET 4 | UAPB lost set four and the match, falling 25-17. The Lady Lions fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before losing the set.
