MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- An explosive offensive output was not enough for UAPB on Wednesday. The Lady Lions scored five runs, but could not hold the Memphis Tigers at bay, and were bested 23-5.
Shakeidra Hubbard started and took the loss in the circle for UAPB.
At the plate, the Lady Lions were led by Enecia Sykes, who went 1-for-1 on the day with an RBI. Amari Broughton furnished a standout performance as well, going 1-for-1 with a double. Martinez Remington also contributed for UAPB, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Lady Lions first put runs on the board in the second inning. UAPB managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Lady Lions deficit grew to 23-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the fifth inning. which brought the score to 23-5 in favor of the Tigers. The ballgame ended with that fifth inning rally falling short.
