#UAPBFootball: Late Touchdown Lifts Texas Southern Over Golden Lions

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --Texas Southern mounted a nine-play, 75-yard drive, culminating in a one-yard rushing touchdown with 3:31 left in the ballgame, as UAPB lost 24-17 in heartbreaking fashion to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Simmons Bank Field.

The Tigers improved to 2-3-1 on the year and 2-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the UAPB fell to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in conference matchups.

Kayvon Britten totaled 97 yards to lead the UAPB's ground attack and added two touchdowns in the game, picking up 5.1 yards per carry along the way. Skyler Perry also tacked on 42 yards on the ground.

Maurice Lloyd pulled in two catches for 27 yards.

Marcus Askew showed out for the UAPB defense, collecting nine tackles, 2.0 TFL, one sack, and one recovered fumble. Lance Smith added one recovered fumble and Kaleb Knox had 16 tackles and one interception in the loss.

The Golden Lions won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing three turnovers while coughing the ball up two times, with UAPB turning those takeaways into 10 points.

Defensively, UAPB held up fairly well against the Texas Southern offensive attack, holding the Tigers to 290 total yards.

How It Happened
UAPB responded to a 3-0 lead from Texas Southern with a score to tie it up at 3-3 with 14:14 left in the second quarter. Texas Southern then scored to take a 10-3 lead before followed with another score with 12:40 remaining in the third quarter to tie it at 10-10.

Texas Southern scored to grab a 17-10 lead, but UAPB responded to even the game at 17-17. Texas Southern added seven more points to finish off the scoring, to clinch the road win.
