CONWAY, Ark – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team dropped both games on the second day of competition at the UCA Michelle Short Memorial Classic.
GAME 1: Nebraska-Omaha 13 UAPB 0
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team falls 13-0 to Nebraska-Omaha in game one.
The Mavericks struck first in the second inning, scoring four runs before adding nine runs in the bottom of the fourth to claim game one.
Junior Alyssa Wesley and Deeanna Harrington both had two hits apiece for the Lady Lions.
GAME 2: Western Illinois 14 UAPB - 3
After going extra innings and dropping a 6-5 heartbreaker against Western Illinois in the first meeting, the Lethernecks got off to a fast start in game two.
Western Illinois jumped out to an 11-0 lead before UAPB battled back in the fourth inning, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth inning to cut into Western Illinois lead, but it was not enough for the comeback.
Sophomore Sydney Green led the Lady Lions at the plate with a solo home run to left field, going 3-for-3, with two runs and one RBI, followed by sophomore Desiree Bumpers going 1-for-2 scoring one run.
UAPB will complete their three-day series on Saturday against Central Arkansas at 1:30 p.m.
