The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball team lost at home to Southern, 75-58 on Saturday.

Khadijah Brown notched her second straight double-double and eighth of the season with 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Lions (2-14, 1-9 SWAC). Jahnay Anderson chipped in as well with nine points and four assists, and Maya Peat added eight points, two steals and two blocks.

After falling behind 7-4, UAPB went on an 8-0 run with 5:41 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Brown, to take a 12-7 lead. The Lady Lions then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 17-15 advantage. UAPB did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 12 of its 17 points close to the basket.

Southern fought back to tie the game at 22-22 before UAPB went on an 8-0 run starting at the 5:34 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Peat, to take a 30-22 lead.
The Lady Jaguars then battled back to even it up at 30-30 heading into halftime.

A third-quarter surge by Southern gave the Jaguars control of the game in the second half.

The Lady Lions return to action Wednesday at Noon hosting Alcorn at the H.O. Clemmons Arena in a doubleheader with the men. The game can be viewed online at uapblionsroar.com/live and on the free UAPB Athletics App.
