The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff captured their third straight conference win, sweeping Texas Southern 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-19).

It was smooth sailing for most of the match for the Lady Lions. Zyonn Smith led the team in kills with 10 to go along with 14 digs, and Destiny Thomas added six kills to the total.

Defensively, Haley Gomez had a game-high eight blocks to go along with six kills to pace UAPB.

Nikole Akamineand Vanessa Collins combined for 27 of the team's 31 assists with 14 and 13 assists, respectively. Nyah Ellis led the team in digs with 14.

"I would put the adjective 'big' in front on this win," says head coach Chelsey Lucas after defeating Texas Southern. "We're playing for something at stake every night. We've been playing at a high level of volleyball. This was a big win heading into the tournament."
