The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team picked up a win over Texas Southern 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 27-25, 25-20) in the first of two road games this week.
Texas Southern won the first set of the match before the Lady Lions won three straight sets to earn a tough win outside of the home territory.
Zyonn Smith and Zykia Jones set the tone for the Lady Lions offensively with nine kills apiece. Kori Diego added to the kill total with eight kills.
Nikole Akamine finished with a team-high 17 assists to go along with four aces for UAPB, and Vanessa Collins added 11 assists in the match.
Smith also had a game-high 25 digs in the match, followed by Nyah Ellis with 17 digs to pace the Lady Lions defensively.Â
UAPB wraps up their road trip against Prairie View A&M on Monday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
