UAPB Athletics Continue To Set Records For Team Cumulative GPA’s

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff's student-athletes continue to excel at historic levels in the classroom, compiling the highest cumulative GPA ever in the athletic department. Overall, student-athletes recorded 3.20 combined cumulative, and all 16 teams posted a 3.0-or-higher GPA.

"I'm excited about how much we have grown in the athletic department," said Kyle Hartsfield, UAPB's Interim Director of Student-Athletes Academics. "These marks are a testament to the commitment to education with UAPB athletics.

Golf led all teams on the men's side with the highest cumulative GPA at 3.64, followed by men's cross country (3.38), men's tennis (3.28), men's indoor/outdoor track & field (3.26), baseball (3.23), football (3.04), and men's basketball (3.0).

On the women's side soccer led the way posting a 3.52 cumulative GPA, followed by women's indoor/outdoor track & field (3.43), women's tennis (3.43), volleyball (3.32), softball (3.19), women's cross country (3.12), and women's basketball (3.06).

UAPB's record performance in the classroom also coincides with the recent opening of the Student-Athlete Academic Center. The center opened in December 2018 and directly benefits every student-athlete on campus, as it provides ample space for student-athletes to study.
