Prairie View, TX — The Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions closed out their series at Prairie View with a dominant 12–0 shutout victory on Sunday, April 12, salvaging the series finale and moving to 10-5 on the season.
The Golden Lions got everything they needed from starter Ryland Morin, who turned in a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits while walking none and striking out three. Morin was efficient and commanding throughout, throwing 81 pitches and retiring the Panthers in order in four of the seven innings. He improved to 3–1 on the season with the effort.
The offense came alive early and never relented. UAPB struck for one run in the second inning before erupting for five in the third, two more in the fourth, and four in the seventh to put the game firmly out of reach. The Golden Lions finished with 11 hits, eight walks, and took full advantage of two Prairie View errors.
Aaron Grant delivered the biggest offensive performance of the afternoon, going 2-for-5 with a triple, three runs scored, and three RBI. Grant also drew a fielder's choice RBI in the seventh to plate Jose Vasquez and trigger a four-run inning that put the game away.
Lazaro Alvarado was equally impressive at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI. His two-run double in the third, which scored Grant and gave UAPB a 5–0 lead, was among the key blows of the game. Alvarado capped off the seventh with a bases-clearing double to left center, plating Aaron Grant, Blake Coleman, and Zach Wieder to push the score to 12–0.
Nick Hockemeyer continued his strong series, reaching base three times on two hits and two walks while also swiping a stolen base. Jose Vasquez contributed offensively with a double, a stolen base, and an RBI groundout in the third inning, while Weston Gingerich added a run-scoring bunt single in the third and drew two walks on the afternoon.
