Men’s Basketball Second-Half Rally Falls Short Against Alabama A&M

After trailing by 15 points, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team second half-rally cut the deficit and took the lead, but ultimately fell short to Alabama A&M 58-54 in conference play Saturday.

Terrance Banyard registered a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, followed by graduate-student athlete Marcus Wallace and Dequan Morris, both with seven points.

UAPB out rebounded Alabama A&M 30-26 in Saturday's game, led by Banyard's 11 boards.

After being down 34-20 at the half, UAPB did a great job disrupting Alabama A&M shots. The Golden Lions narrowed its deficit to 38-34 before going on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game with a three-pointer by Marcus Wallace with 10:20 left in the second half.

The Golden Lions increased their lead 43-38 lead with 9:41 to go in the contest before the Bulldogs went on a run to seal the road win.

"I thought we came out a played really hard tonight," said UAPB head coach George Ivory. "We missed too many free throws when it counts.

"We changed the lineup in the second half, and the guys came out and had a lot of energy to help us get back in the game. We've got Alabama St. coming in town Monday, so we'll get back to the lab and get ready for Monday."

The Golden Lions will face off against Alabama St. Monday for Meet The Spring Teams Night at 7:30 p.m. The UAPB Sports Network will have a live radio broadcast on 99.3 FM The Beat, online at uapblionsroar.com, and on the free UAPB Athletics App.
