The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team lost to Alabama St. 57-49 Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
Junior Dequan Morris led the Golden Lions with 13 points and three steals. Freshman Kshun Stokes added nine points and seven rebounds off of the bench, and junior Terrance Banyard chipped in as well with seven points, six rebounds, and three blocks.
After falling behind 13-11, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 11:29 left in the first half to take a 17-13 lead. The Golden Lions then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 27-22 advantage.
The Hornets raced out to a slight lead down the stretch in the second half in the final minutes for the win.
"Overall, I thought we did a pretty good job, but we have to make free throws and learn how to finish the game," said UAPB head coach George Ivory. "When you get to the free-throw line, you have to make those shots and not make crucial turnovers."
The Golden Lions return to action Saturday against Southern at 5:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The UAPB Sports Network will have a live radio broadcast on 99.3 FM The Beat, online at uapblionsroar.com, and on the free UAPB Athletics App.
