The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff soccer team lost to Alabama A&M 4-1 in the conference opener Friday afternoon at Pumphrey Stadium.
The Lady Bulldogs would strike first off an own goal by UAPB in the 41:47 mark in the first half to take a 1-0 lead over the Lady Lions.
After Alabama A&M scored a second goal, UAPB scored when senior Sarah Wright beat the keeper for a goal in the 59:36 mark in the second half to cut the lead to 2-1.
Alabama A&M would go on to score two more goals late in the game to seal the victory for their first conference win of the season.
"I think the game came down to experience," said first-year UAPB head coach Jeremy Winzer. "We had a chance to step up and get back into the game, but our young players didn't rise to the occasion, but we'll be alright as the season goes on. I see some improvements as we battle day in and day out on the field."
UAPB will return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. against Alabama State at Pumphrey Stadium.
