MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In its final non-conference match September at the Alumni Memorial Gymnasium, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team fell to Middle Tennessee State 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 15-25) Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Lions are wrapping up their two-game road trip in Tennessee after playing at Tennessee State Friday night.
"We didn't get the results we wanted, but overall the girls played well," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas. "Eventhough we played against some good teams in non-conference competition, we competed well. I'm excited to get into conference play this weekend and definitely looking forward to the matchups."
Sophomore Kaila Robinson continues to lead the way for UAPB on the court with seven kills and nine digs, followed by freshman Zyonne Smith with six kills, two serving aces, two digs, and one block assist. Freshman Elyssa Kennedy added 14 digs in the match. On the defensive side sophomore, Haley Gomez and junior Bri-Anna Armstrong had two block assists apiece for UAPB.
The Lady Lions will be back in action Friday in the SWAC Roundup at Prairie View, Texas facing Alabama A&M at 12:30 p.m. and Alabama St. at 3 p.m.
