UAPB Drops Doubleheader at Prairie View

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX.-   The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team dropped a pair of games to Prairie View Lady Panthers 8-0 before falling in game two 12-4. 
 
Game 1 – Prairie View 8 UAPB 0:  With the score 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lady Panthers scored five runs and two in the sixth inning to take game one of Saturday's doubleheader. 
 
Game 2 – Prairie View 12 UAPB 4:  UAPB's bats showed signs of life in game two, but not enough to hold off Prairie View in the doubleheader. 
 
UAPB struck first in the second inning when Shanice Akins singled up the middle, followed by a home run to left field by Dominque Humphrey to give the Lady Lions a 2-0 lead. 
 
The Lady Lions would go on to add on two more runs in the third inning when Akins hit a solo blast to left center to give UAPB a 3-1 lead.  Alexandria Taylor would keep the rally going when she collected her sixth RBI of the season scoring Humphrey who reached earlier on a walk. 
 
Prairie View would go on to score 11 runs in the last four innings to end the game. 
 
Akins led UAPB at the plate going 2-for-3 with one RBI and a two-run home run, followed by Humphrey, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a solo home run. 
 
 
UAPB will be back in action next week with SWAC makeup games to be announced.
