Lady Lions Drop Game One In Conference Opener

Huntsville, Alabama – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball dropped Friday's game one to Alabama A&M.  The Lady Lions were defeated by the Lady Bulldogs, 4-3 in the first game of conference play on the road. 
 
Alabama A&M took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Madison Pozzi double to center scoring Dianelle Hansell and Shelby Scrivnor who reached on an error and a walk. 
 
Fortunately for the Lady Bulldogs, their 2-0 lead was short lived as Lady Lions stormed back in the top of the fourth inning when Alexandria Taylor ripped a triple to center field and Shanice Akins reached on an error by the shortstop, which scored (2-1) Taylor. 

Alabama A&M got another boost in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring two runs on one hit and two errors. 
 
UAPB began to claw their way back in the top of the seventh inning down by three (4-1) when Dominique Humphrey led off with a walk, followed by a double to right field by Kameron Graham, scoring Humphrey.   Desiree Bumpers would ground out with one out to score Graham, but Lauren Hayden would come up big for the final out for Alabama A&M to win game one. 

Akins and Graham led the way for the Lady Lions going 1-for-3 with an RBI.   Also, Tamira Chatman and Alexandria Taylor also had one hit apiece for UAPB. 
 
UAPB and Alabama A&M will wrap up the doubleheader in a three-game SWAC series at 12:00 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, March 16 at Lady Bulldog Stadium in Huntsville, Alabama.
