Softball Drop A Pair On Final Day Of Lady Demon Classic

Natchitoches, La. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball looked to close out on a good note at the Lady Demon Classic but dropped both games on the final day of the classic held at the Lady Demon Diamond.

Game 1- Houston Baptist. 4 UAPB 0
The Lady Lions (0-9) sole hit came from junior Shanice Akins who single to left field in the top of the fourth inning and one stolen base, who tried to create a spark for the ball club. 

Juliana Dominguez (0-6) takes the loss for UAPB, pitching six innings, giving up three earned runs, four strikeouts, and no walks.
 
Game 2- Northwestern St. 10 UAPB 1

In the second game, UAPB (0-10) jumped out fast when Shanice Akins single to through the left field gap, then advanced to second on a passed ball.  Two batters later Kameron Graham single up the middle scoring Akins to make it 1-0 through one inning of play. 

But that would be all for the Lady Lions offensively, allowing the Lady Demons to take the lead in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs on two errors.  With Northwestern St. leading 2-1 in the third inning, the Lady Demons broke the game open by plating seven runs to take a 9-1 lead.  Northwestern St. closed things with another run in the bottom of the fourth inning for the win.

Karia Hall (0-3) pitched four innings, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits for the Lady Lions.  E.C. Delafield picked up the win for the Lady Demons (1-1).

The Lady Lions continue play in the Central Arkansas Invitational March 1-2 against Missouri St. Friday at 9 a.m. in Conway, Ark.
