HOUSTON, TX. – Senior forward Jeremy Combs scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Texas Southern defeated the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff 94-74 on Saturday night at the H&PE Arena.
Guard Jalyn Patterson, a senior, added 19 points for Texas Southern (15-11, 10-3), which jumped out to a 43-34 halftime lead.

Martaveous McKnight scored 23 points for UAPB (11-16, 8-6), which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end. Sophomore forward
Shaun Doss had 14.
The Tigers controlled things from the outset and built a 31-11 lead before the Golden Lions managed to trim its deficit to nine by the break. UAPB continued to fight back and was within 54-52 with 12:18 left in the game on a Doss basket inside. Charles Jackson misfired on a three-point attempt on the following possession. Ewing responded with a basket on Texas Southern ensuing trip, and the Tigers slowly created separation over the final 11 minutes to win going away.
UAPB sits in fourth place in the conference and has a date at Prairie View A&M on Monday before returning to H.O. Clemmons Arena next Saturday for a pivotal clash with Grambling St.

· McKnight's 23 points was the eighth time he's scored at least 22 in league play this season.

Quamauri Hardy had three rebounds and five assists in 18 minutes for UAPB.
· The Golden Lions were just 3 of 17 from behind the three-point line while the Tigers were 8 of 19.
