Golden Lions Falls To UTEP

EL PASO, Texas. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team showed grit and toughness in battling Texas El Paso before falling 59-50 Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center. 

The Golden Lions gave the Miners fits from the opening tip off, when they jumped out to their largest lead of the game at 13-9 on a jumper by senior Marquell Carter with 10:42 left in the first half.  UTEP would go up 31-18, before UAPB would go on a 15-4 run to come within one, 35-34 at the half.

After UTEP raced out to seven point lead down the stretch in the second half with less than four minutes to play in the game, Carter would respond to cut the lead to four at 54-50 with a three-pointer from behind the arc, but the comeback fell short.

Carter scored a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds for UAPB, followed by junior Jordan McNair with eight points, and freshman Isaiah Haralson with six points. 
The Golden Lions bench outscored the Miners 50-24 throughout the game. 

UAPB will be back in action Dec. 14 against Oregon St. at 5 p.m. CT.
