Men's Basketball Falls To Nationally Ranked Gonzaga

SPOKANE, WA. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team battled through the early stages but fell to No. 8 Gonzaga, 110-60, in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center.  

The Golden Lions went toe to toe early in the game, taking a 10-9 lead with a three-pointer by Robert Boyd with 16:33 left in the first half before the Bulldogs raced out to a 37-20 run to go into the half with a 56-30 lead. 

Gonzaga came out the second half and outshot UAPB from the field goal percentage 66.7 to 39.4. 

Junior Shaun Doss scored a team-high 15 points and two rebounds for UAPB.  Juniors Terrance Banyard and Dequan Morris, and senior Isaac Bassey each contributed eight points apiece, while Banyard and Morris each had a team-best in rebounds with five.  

UAPB returns to action Saturday against Grand Canyon at 8 p.m. CT in Phoenix, Arizona.
