TAMPA, Fla. – The Arkansas At Pine Bluff men's basketball team lost in the season opener at South Florida 70-41 Tuesday at the Yuengling Center.
Shawn Doss and
Markedric Bell each scored 10 points, and
Dequan Morris added eight for UAPB.
The Golden Lions and Bulls traded runs in the first half. UAPB's 10-0 run was capped by Bell's three-pointer that gave Arkansas At Pine Bluff a 22-20 lead with 7:40 to play in the first half.
However, South Florida outscored UAPB 17-4 to end the half and led 37-26 at halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Lions couldn't find the offensive touch, converting only four of 14 field goals in the final 20 minutes.
UAPB returns to action at #8 Gonzaga Saturday at 7 p.m.
