Football Falls At Jackson St.

JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff football team lost at Jackson State 21-12 Saturday night at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Trailing 14-0 in the third quarter, UAPB put together its first scoring drive of the night. Keyed by a 54-yard reception by Josh Wilkes, the Golden Lions drove 75 yards in five plays as Omar Allen's 13-yard TD run cut the deficit to 14-6 with just over nine minutes to play in the third quarter.

UAPB (5-4 overall, 2-3 SWAC) scored two possessions later, driving 48 yards in four plays. DeJuan Miller's 16-yard scoring pass from Shannon Patrick brought the Golden Lions to within 14-12 with less than a minute to play in the third quarter as the two-point conversion failed.

However, Jackson State (4-5, 3-1) returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown for the final margin.

Allen had career highs in rushes (30) and yards (98) with a touchdown. Wilkes caught four passes for 117 yards for the Golden Lions, who return to action next Saturday in a 2 p.m. game at Prairie View A&M.
