Soccer Falls To Texas Southern

Houston, TX.- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff soccer team fell to Texas Southern 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Alexander Durley Stadium.

The Lady Lions came into the match shorthanded, missing two of their starters due to injury, as the Lady Tigers scored two goals in the first half for the win.

"It's tough when you lose players like Sarah Wright, who leads the conference in scoring, Tori Spigner a key defender, and Alondre Lepe, who adds depth," said first-year UAPB head coach Jeremy Winzer.  "Then you have to limit key players who were playing with flu-like symptoms, so its hard to recover when each game you play is a must-win.  We came up short, but the game coming up against a tough Grambling team is a must-win to get into the tournament.

Freshman Lizeth Martinez led UAPB with three shots and three shots on goal.  Freshman goalie Trinity Taylor had a game-high 14 saves.

UAPB returns to action for the regular-season finale on Friday at Grambling at 4 p.m.
