Volleyball Battles But Falls Short In Five-Set Loss At Texas Southern

HOUSTON, TX. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team battled in five close sets but dropped a heartbreaker lost 27-25, 26-28, 25-20, 20-25, 11-15 to Texas Southern Monday night at the Health & PE Arena.

"We showed more effort tonight, and we gave ourselves a chance to win on the road," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas.  "We had our chances, but let the game slip away."

Sophomore Kaila Robinson led the Lady Lions with a team-high 13 kills, followed by freshman Reagin Williams and sophomore Haley Gomez with seven kills apiece.  Freshman Elyssa Kennedy guided the offense with 27 assists and finished with nine digs. 

On defense, sophomore Breana August led the Lady Lions backline with 21 digs and Gomez had eight blocks for the night. 

UAPB will be back at home Thursday against Grambling St. at 6:30 p.m. at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
