BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff guard Martaveous McKnight has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The league made the announcement Tuesday morning.

McKnight, a 6-4 senior from Walls, Miss., averaged 22.1 points per game for the Golden Lions this past week, shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 43.7 percent from beyond the arc. Against Texas Tech, McKnight went for 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting, grabbing seven rebounds as well.

The reigning 2017-18 SWAC Player of the Year followed that effort with 22 points against California-Santa Barbara, again converting nine of his 18 tries from the floor. McKnight concluded his week with a near-historical effort during UAPB's 84-51 win over Champion Christian College, as he came just two assists shy of a quadruple-double. McKnight tallied 18 points, 10 rebounds, 10 steals and eight assists in the victory.

Over the three games, McKnight averaged 6.0 boards, 4.0 steals and 3.0 assists in addition to his scoring exploits. He currently leads the SWAC in scoring, averaging 24.2 points per night.
