JACKSON, Miss. (Feb. 24) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Tennis team picked up their first win of the season as they pulled out a 4-3 victory over Alabama A&M, here Friday morning at Mississippi College Tennis Courts.
In doubles action the team of
Sajid Rahman and
Aravind Vangala defeated the team of Nishangan Nadaraja and Christina Bigott, 6-2 in the No. 1 doubles play. The team of
Jualon Greig and La'Darrien Ledbetter defeated the team of Joshua Wilson and Jarib Beazer, 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles play to give UAPB a 1-0 lead over AAMU.
AAMU tied the match at 1-1 with Nadaraja defeating Rahman, 6-3, 6-3 in No. singles play.
UAPB took a 2-1 lead in the match with
Simon Lewis defeating Carlos Salas, 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 2 singles competition.
AAMU tied the match at 2-2 with a Bigott defeating Greig in three set. Bigott won the first set, 6-3. Greig tied the set at 1-1 with a 6-2 win the second set. Bigott would the No. 3 singles with a 6-3 in the tie breaker to win the No. 3 singles.
Vangala and Ledbetter would give the Golden Lions the 4-3 win with Vangala defeating the Mateo Ruedo, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 in three sets No. 4 singles play. Then Ledbetter would defeat Beazer in straight sets, 6-2 in the first set and 6-2 in the second set.
Khutso Ledwaba would fall to Joshua Wilson, 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 6 single play to scored AAMU's final point of the match.
