UAPB DEFEATS SOUTHERN TO EXTEND WIN STREAK TO FOUR
Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Feb. 11) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team snapped their six-game losing streak to Southern University with a 63-59 win over the Jaguars, here Saturday afternoon at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
UAPB (10-13, 7-5 SWAC) was had three players to score in double-figures with Faith Ohanta scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 points for her third double-double of the season.  Ajia Richardson finished the contest with 15 points, while 11 Destiny Brewton chipped in 11 to round out the cast of double-digit performers. 
 
SU (9-11, 7-5 SWAC) had a pair of Jaguars to score in double-figures with Skylar O'Bear scoring a game high 21 points, while Briana Green finished with 20 points and eight rebounds to round out the cast of double-digit performers for SU.
 
In the first half, UAPB led by many as 21 points with the Lady Lions taking a 35-14 lead on an Ohanta three pointer with 2:54 to go in the second quarter.
 
SU closed out the second quarter with an 8-0 run to cut UAPB's lead to 35-22 on a pair of Green free throws with 45 seconds left before intermission.
 
 
In the second half, the Jaguars slowly chipped away at the Lady Lions' lead as they tied the contest at 53-53 on made free throw by Green with 3:26 remaining in regulation.
 
UAPB then used a 7-0 run to take a 60-53 lead on a pair of Brewton free throws with 54 seconds left in the contest.
 
SU cut UAPB's lead to 60-59 on a Green layup with eight seconds to go in the contest.
 
The Lady Lions in the final four seconds of the contest would go three-for-four from the charity strip for the 63-59 win.
 
UAPB finished the contest shooting 33.3 percent (15-of-45), while SU shot 38.5 percent (25-of-65).  The Lady Lions held the rebounding margin over the Jaguars, 39-38.
