Box Score GRAMBLING, La. (Jan. 28) - Grambling State held on for a 56-54 win over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team, here Saturday afternoon at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Center.
 
UAPB (6-13, 3-5 SWAC) was led by Faith Ohanta and Malaik Muhammad with nine points each, followed by Ajia Richardson with eight, and Destiny Brewton and Shawntayla Harris with seven points apiece.  Harris led the Lady Lions on the boards with eight rebounds.
 
GSU (7-12, 5-3 SWAC) was led by Shayla Hill with 13 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Jazmin Boyd and Jazmine Torian with 10 points apiece.  Hill led the Lady Tigers in assists with four.
 
The first quarter of play saw four ties and three lead changes, with the score tied 13-13 at end of the quarter.
 
In the second quarter, GSU used a 9-3 run to take a 22-16 lead on an Aliah Kennedy jumper with 5:12 remaining.
 
UAPB closed out the quarter with a 10-2 run to take a 26-22 lead into the break.  The Lady Lions finished the first half shooting 37.5 percent (9-of-24), whereas the Lady Tigers shot 33.3 percent (10-of-30).
 
GSU outscored UAPB, 21-13 in the third quarter to take a 43-39 lead into the final period of play.
 
UAPB took a 47-46 lead with six minutes remaining on a pair of Niya Head free throws, capping an 8-3 run by the Lady Lions.
 
A three point play by Torian put the Lady Tigers up 51-49 with 4:32 remaining. Richardson then tied the contest at 51-51 on a pair of made free throws with 3:15 left to play in regulation. 
 
The Lady Tigers would go up 56-51 with a 5-0 run capped by a Torian free throw with 33 seconds to go in the contest. 
 
Brewton would cut GSU's lead to 56-54 with her three pointer at the 18 second mark, which was the final Lady Lions basket of the contest.
