PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 2) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Texas A&M University at Texarkana, here Saturday afternoon at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
UAPB won four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles match to score five points in the event.
Jualon Greig won his match in straight sets, 6-0, and 6-0 over Monte Scott in the No. 3 singles play. Sajid Rahman picked up the win in No. 1 singles play with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Gino Raneri.
Simon Lewis won his match in three sets over Sammy Hogan. Lewis won the first set, 6-4. Hogan tied the set at 1-1 with a 6-3 win in the second set. Lewis defeating Hogan, 10-8 in the third set to win the point for the Golden Lions.
Fudaeel Hanif won the No. 5 single in three sets over Matthew Teeters. Teeters won the first set, 6-4. Hanif tied the set at 1-1 with a 6-2 win in the second set. In the tie breaker, Hanif pulled out a 10-7 victory to secure the point for UAPB.
In doubles play, the team of Rahman and Greig won the No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 win over the team of Raneri and Hogan.
The Golden Lions won the double point with the team of Lewis and
Khusto Ledwaba defeating Giles and Scott, 7-6 in the No. 2 doubles.
