UAPB DEFEATS ALABAMA A&M, 69-60 FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Feb. 6) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team won their third straight with a 69-60 win over Alabama A&M, here Saturday afternoon at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
UAPB only trailed three times in the contest, when AAUM took a 2-1 lead on a Janie Myles layup with 8:09 remaining in the first quarter. Then again on a Taliah Moore jumper at the 6:36 mark of the quarter, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 4-3 lead, and again on a Moore layup with 4:52 to go.
 
The Lady Lions regained the lead on an Attirah Munir jumper to give UAPB an 8-7 lead with 4:35 to go in the first.
 
In the quarter, the Lady Lions extended their lead to much as six points on a pair of made free throws by Diamond Richardson at the 1:29 mark of the quarter, giving UAPB a 15-9 lead.
 
In the second quarter, UAPB increased their lead to 33-22 on a Munir jumper with 2:06 to go before the half.
 
The Lady Lions went into the break with a 35-26 lead over the Lady bulldogs as UAPB finished the half shooting 44.0 percent (11-of-25), whereas AAMU shot 47.1 percent (8-of-17).
 
In the quarter, AAMU used a 14-8 run to cut UAPB's lead to 44-40 on a Jaylan Snowden three pointer with 2:42 in the third quarter.
 
UAPB went into the fourth quarter with a 48-43 lead over AAMU.
 
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions pushed their lead to a 63-49 with a 14-6 run on a Diamond Richardson free throw with 4:45 remaining in the contest.
 
AAMU would cut UAPB's lead to 66-58 on an Alexia DeBose jumper with 30 seconds left in the contest.
 
UAPB finished the contest shooting 39.6 percent (21-of-53), while AAMU shot 42.9 percent (21-of-49).
 
AAMU (3-17, 2-8 SWAC) was paced by Dixon with 14 points, while Myles led the team on the boards with nine and Moore finished with a team high four assists.
 
UAPB (7-14, 4-6 SWAC) had a trio of Lady Lions to score in double-figures with Niya Head scoring a game high 22 points to lead all scorers.  Diamond Richard pumped 17, while Destiny Brewton finished with 13.
