Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Nov. 22). - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball fell to Austin Peay, 69-55 in their home opener here Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

UAPB (0-3) was led by
Destiny Brewton with a team high 23 points, while both
Faith Ohanta and
Noe'll Taylor added seven point apiece. Ohanta led the team on the boards with seven and Brewton dished out a team high four assists.

APSU (4-1) was led by Tearra Banks with 34 points and 11 rebounds to lead all scorers. Beth Rates chipped in 11 and both Bri Williams and Keisha Gregory finished with seven apiece. Williams led the Governors in assists with nine.Â

APSU jumped out to a 6-2 lead on a pair of free throws by Rates with 8:21 remaining in the first quarter.

UAPB tied the contest at 8-8 on Brewton jumper with 6:36 to go in the quarter, capping a 6-2 run by the Lady Lions.  The Lady Lions then pulled ahead 14-13 on Tyjha McGee jumper with 1:43 remaining.

APSU went into the second quarter with a 15-14 lead on Banks layup with 1:39 to go.

In the third quarter of play, APSU scored the first basket of the second quarter on a Rates three-pointer at the 9:26 mark of the quarter, giving the Governors an 18-14.Â

Brewton would then score the next points for UAPB to tie the contest at 20-20 at the 7:50 mark. The Lady Lions then extended their lead to 26-21 on an Ohanta layup with 4:45 remaining, capping a 6-1 run by the Lady Lions.

APSU then tied the contest at 27-27 with a 6-1 run on a Rates three pointer with 1:56 left to go in the quarter.  The Governors closed out the quarter with a 7-0 run to take a 34-27 lead into the break.

The Governors opened the third quarter with a 6-2 run build their lead to 40-29 over Lady Lions on a Banks layup with 7:44 remaining in the quarter.

UAPB then cut APSU's lead to 50-44 on a Brewton layup with 2:30 remaining in the contest as they outscored the Governors 15-10 in five minutes of play. Â
APSU scored the final basket of the quarter on a Bank layup with 1:29 left to give the Governors a 52-44 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, APSU pushed their lead to much as 14 points as the Governors held on for the 69-55 win.

UAPB finished the contest shooting 34.4 percent (22-of-64), whereas APSU shot 51.0 percent (25-of-49).
