In the first five minutes of play, the Lady Hornets jumped out to an 8-4 lead capped off by a Britney Wright free throw with 15:05 left in the first.

UAPB rebounded in the half as they took a 16-14 lead on a pair of
Amber Haggie free throws with 9:18 left, capping a 12-6 run by the Lady Lions.

ASU tied the contest at 18-18 at the 6:35 mark of the half on a Wright layup with 6:35 to go as the Lady Hornets outscored the 4-2 in the next three minutes of play.

Attirah Munir broke the 21-21 tie with her layup with 2:59 left in the half, giving the Lady Lions a 23-21 lead.

UAPB closed out the first half with a 9-4 run to take a 30-25 lead into the break, capped off by a
Destiny Hamm three pointer at the buzzer to end regulation.

The Lady Lions finished the first half shooting 44.4 percent (12-of-27), while the Lady Hornets shot 27.6 percent (8-of-29).

UAPB scored the five points of the second half to take a 35-25 lead on a
Carlisha Walker layup with 18:34 left to play.Â

A Haggie layup at the 11:42 mark put the Lady Lions ahead by 10 points, giving them a 45-35 lead.

ASU regain the lead on a pair of Daniele Ewert free throws giving the Lady Hornets a 47-46 lead with 7:32 left to play, capping a 12-1 run by the Lady Hornets.

The Lady Hornets pushed their lead to 62-48 on a Wright free throw with 1:39 left in the regulation, capping a 15-2 run by ASU as the Lady Hornets went on to win the contest 62-54.

UAPB (5-15, 3-7 SWAC) had three Lady Lions to finish in double-figures with a
Destiny Brewton scoring a team high 14 points, followed by Haggie with 11 and Walker with 10. Walker finished the contest with eight rebounds to lead the Lady Lions on the boards.

ASU (9-10, 5-4 SWAC) was paced by Britney Wright as she finished with a double-double on the day with a game high 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Jasmine Peeples pumped in 13 points and pulled down 14 boards for the Lady Hornets.

UAPB will return to action on Monday, February 9 as they will travel to Normal, Ala., to take on Alabama A&M in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
