Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. (Nov. 14) - In their season opener, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team dropped a 96-46 decision to the University of Nebraska, here Saturday morning at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
UAPB (0-1) was led by
Niya Head with a team high 16 points and six rebounds, followed by
Destiny Brewton with nine.
NEB (1-0) had three players to score in double-figures with Natalie Romeo a game high 30 points, followed by Jessica Shepard with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Rachel Theriot rounded out the cast with double-digit scorers with 10.
Nebraska grabbed a 15-7 lead in the first stanza capped off by a Jasmine Cincore layup with 2:27 left in the first quarter.
In the final two minutes, UAPB outscored Nebraska 5-4 as the Cornhuskers went into second period with a 19-15 lead.
The Cornhuskers outscored the Lady Lions 27-14 in the second period to take a 46-26 lead into the break.
UAPB finished the first half shooting 27.0 percent (10-of-37), whereas Neb shot 58.6 percent (17-of-29).
Nebraska outscored UAPB 48-20 in the second half for the 96-46 finale.
UAPB finished the game shooting 29.5 percent (18-of-61), whereas Nebraska shot 51.5 percentage (34-of-66).
