RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 13) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Quarterback
Benjamin Anderson has been tabbed one of the top players to watch this fall among Historically Black Colleges and University student-athletes, by Donal Ware of HBCU Game Time, powered by Box-To-Row for Jet Magazine.
Anderson, the 2014 Preseason Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year is a 6-3, 200, redshirt senior from Little Rock, Ark., who is a two-time (2011, 2012) first team all-conference selection and the 2011 SWAC Freshman of the Year.
He finished the 2013 campaign ranked in the top three in three out of four offensive categories. Anderson ended 2013 with 3,611 yards of total offense, rushing for 824 yards on 183 carries with nine TDs, while passing for 2,787 yards on 210 completions of 357 attempts, with 19 TDs and 11 INTs.
Anderson ranked first in the conference in total offense (328.3), second in passing (253.4), third in pass efficiency (135.8), and seventh in rushing (74.9). Against Grambling State, Anderson rushed for a season high 192 yards on 21 carries and one TD, while passing for 280 yards by completing 19 passes in 29 attempts with four TDs.
In 2012, Anderson led the Golden Lions to their first outright SWAC Championship title and was named the 2012 Toyota SWAC Football Championship Most Valuable Player.
