LUBBOCK, TX. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football team fell 67-7 to No. 23 Texas Tech on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders improved to 1-0 on the season while the Golden Lions dropped to 0-1.
Quarterback Christian Peters made his Golden Lions debut, completing 17 of 33 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown.
Za'Marion Webber led UAPB on the ground with 42 rushing yards, while Jaylen Jennings added 11 yards.
In the receiving corps, Kareem Burke posted three catches for 33 yards, and Ellis Stewart hauled in two receptions for 28 yards, including his first career touchdown.
Defensively, Azayvonne Stribling paced the Golden Lions with six tackles. Kyle Knox and Na'il Johnson each contributed five tackles apiece.
How It Happened
Texas Tech jumped out to a commanding lead, going ahead 61-0 before UAPB found the end zone late in the fourth quarter. With 6:16 remaining, Peters connected with Stewart for a touchdown strike to put the Golden Lions on the board, cutting the deficit to 61-7. The Red Raiders added one more score to close out the game.
