Bloomington, Ind.- (Feb. 3, 2014)—The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff men's and women indoor track and field team recorded four Top 10 performances at the Indiana Hoosiers Relays last weekend.
The Golden Lions had a very impressive meet in Bloomington, Ind. running in a meet that feature 1,200 Athletes from more than 25 schools like the Big Ten, ACC, and strong mid major programs.
Jacob Orozco finished 5
th with a time of (1:22.49) in the 600 meter dash. In the 400 the Golden Lions compiled a time of
William David (50.61),
Justin Cooper (50.67), and
Andrew Bingham (50.76).
In the men 60 meter dash UAPB
Jonathan Johnson finished with a time of (6.95) but missed the semifinals by one. The men 4x400 finished 8
th with a time of (3:19.24) (
Andrew Bingham, Justin Cooper, Joshua Woods and Juwan Parker). Also in the 800 meter
Matthew Agard ran an impressive race, finshed 7th in a heat that features runners from Notre Dame, Alabama, Louisville.
In the women's field,
Ninfa Barnard was the top Golden Lions finisher for women's, placing fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of (2:13.53).
Barnard trailed only first place Rebecca Stearn of Loyola College (2:11.93) and runner-up Kristen Zillmer of Illinois State (2:12.18) in the field of 32 runners.
UAPB
Crystal Christopher was ninth among all collegians in the long jump with a long leap of (5.43m). Also in the women's field UAPB's 4x400 finished 8
th with a time of (3:57.92) which included runners (
Ninfa Barnard, Takia Taylor, Sharoya Simmons, Sabratina Rojas),
Takia Taylor finished 11
th out of 36 runners with a time of (25.77) in the 200 and 58.53 in the 400 meter dash. In the field event Sophomore
Sireta Roach set a personal best in the shot put- 14.01m and 14.08 (weight).
Next on the slate for the Golden Lions is a February 7-8 trip to Birmingham, Alabama for the Samford Multi & Invitational (Division I & II).
