Women's Basketball: Lady Lions Come Up Short Against Prairie View, 80-67

Pine Bluff, AR- The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff women's basketball team suffered a Southwestern Athletic Conference loss as the Lady Lions (3-21, 2-12 SWAC) fell to Prairie View Panthers (9-14, 9-4 SWAC) 80-67 on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

Junior Amber Haggie led the way for the Lady Lions with 12 points, shooting from the field, 4-for-9, follow by Carlisha Walker with 11 points, Mollie Campbell with 10 points and Christina Lasane finished with a team high 10 rebounds.

The game remained scoreless until the17:14 mark in the first half after Mollie Campbell connected with Charisse Carr to give UAPB its only lead of the contest at 2-0.
Prairie View answered back to tie the game with a layup by Shamiya Brooks to even the score 2-2 with 15:51 on the clock.

The Lady Lions kept the Lady Panthers under ten points for the first 10 minutes of the contest until the Panthers went on a 14-9 run in the last five minutes to end the first frame, taking a 11-point, 38-27 lead into the locker room.

Prairie View kept the offensive momentum alive during the second half going ahead by as many as 25 points at the 8:07.

UAPB fought back cutting the lead down as much as 11 points, but it was not enough for the comeback.
Prairie View finished with five players in double-figure scoring performance led by Jeanette Jackson with 25 points, five rebounds and five steals for the game.

As a team, UAPB shot 23-for-65 from the field (35.4%), 3-for-13 from behind the arch (23.1%) and 18-for-23 from the free throw line (78.3%) while pulling down 44 boards, dishing nine assists and collecting three steals.

Lady Lions return home for on Monday against Texas Southern, Feb. 24 5:30 P.M., at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
