Cassidy Wright looks to drive the lane for the basket
Box Score Pine Bluff, AR- Although the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions (1-13, 0-5 SWAC) came storming back late in the overtime against Alcorn State (2-15, 1-5 SWAC), but a pair of costly turnovers with under a minute to play resulted in six points for the Lady Braves, paving the way for the 64-58 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory, Monday night at the H.O. Clemons Arena.

Christina Lasane finishes with her first double-double of the season and a career high 28 points, follow by Cassidy Wright with 12 points, but it was not enough to push the Lady Lions over the hump.

It was a tough, defensively-driven and fast-scoring affair in the opening period for UAPB, with nearly three minutes passing in the game when the Lady Lions dropped in the game's first score. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 7-0 advantage before the Lady Braves guard Jasmine Cunningham logged Alcorn St. first score, making the score 7-3.

The Lady Braves adjusted its lineup to match with UAPB speed and began to find success on both ends of the court, but for each Lady Lions score, the Lady Braves had an answer, and kept Braves trying to play catch up the length for most of the half. UAPB finished strong into the break, pushing the lead to nine, to head to the locker room 31-22.

In the second half the Braves displayed a more offensive tone going on a 17-6 run to take the lead 39-37, with a lay-up by Tierro Frost with 8:40 left in the second half.

The Lady Lions rebuilt a lead, but the Lady Braves remained focused in the fight, scoring on four consecutive possessions to regain and push its lead to five, 50-45 with almost less than a minute left in the game. UAPB managed play inside on two straight drives to force the game into their first overtime of the season tied at 52 apiece.

In overtime the Lady Lions went cold from the rim missing 4 of their last 5 shots giving the Braves first conference win of the season.

For Alcorn St. Tierro Frost led the way with 25 points and Jasmine Cunningham with 10 points
