MONTGOMERY -- Freshman Jeff Chitando finished in the top 20 in his debut as a UAPB golfer. He shot a 150 at the Alabama State Fall Golf Classic last weekend. The Golden Lions finished seventh as a team in the competition.
Chitando had a 77 in the opening round, then bested that effort in round two with a 73. He finished 6-over for the weekend. Nqobani Noabambi narrowly missed the top 20, shooting a 157 (78-79) for the tournament. He finished at 23rd. Elliott Rollins finished 31st with a tournament total of 168 (84-84), while Matthew Dismuke was 38th with a two-round score of 191 (99-92).
The Lions will be back on the course on Sept. 15-17 in Greenville, Miss. for a three-day tournament at the Greenville Municipal Golf Course. The tournament will be hosted by Mississippi Valley State University.
