Women's Basketball: Lady Lions Stumble To Arizona Wildcats, 67-54

Tucson, AZ.- University Of Arkansas Pine Bluff Lady Lions held PAC 12 member Arizona Wildcats early in a non-conference game on Sunday, but struggle in the second half down the stretch, falling 67-54 at the McKale Center. This is the second meeting between the two teams.

UAPB (1-9) jumped on the score board first with a jumper by Mollie Campbell making the score 2-0 in the 19:34 mark, follow with the Wildcats Labrittney Jones tying the game at two apiece. UAPB bounced back with a three by Christina Lasane giving the Lions the lead 5-2 with 19:00 min in the first half.

The Lions had the lead 12-11 before Arizona (4-7) went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good before going into the locker room with a 36-28 lead at halftime.

In the second half the Lions shot 7-for-28 (25%) from the field and overall 19-for-56(33.9%), 5-for-14(35.7%) overall from behind the arch and from the free throw line overall a season best 11-for-13(84.6%).

Senior Christina Lasane emerged as the point's leader for UAPB with 13 points, two steals, four rebounds, and follow by Cassidy Wright with 12 points. Jazmyne Victorian and Charisse Carr led the team with eight rebounds apiece.

The Lady Lions defense forced the Wildcats to create 16 turnovers in the game, but the major factor of the game was Arizona scoring 14 fast break points to UAPB zero and outscoring UAPB bench 24-12.

Arizona had three players in double figure, Breanna Workman, Carissa Crutchfield and Keyahndra Cannon. As a team high Cannon led the way, shooting 4-for-4 from the three point line.

Wildcats shot 14-for-26(42.9%) from the field, 9-for-20(45.0%) from the three point line and 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the charity stripes.

The Lady Lions concluded a season long 10 game non-conference stretch with Sunday match. They will begin conference play January 4, 2013 against Mississippi Valley in Itta Bena, MS. at 3p.m.
