MILWAUKEE - The UAPB Lady Lions had a rough time on Monday night, falling to Marquette 96-44 at the Al McGuire Center.
Three players, Christina Lasane, Cassidy Wright and Carlisha Walker had nine points to lead UAPB (1-1). Walker had the best night from the field, going 4-for-7, before fouling out of the game. Lasane was 3-for-10 with a 3-pointer, while Wright was 3-for-16 with a basket from beyond the arc.
Overall, the Lady Lions was 17-of-53 (32.1%) from the field. But, the most damaging numbers came at the freethrow line and on the glass. UAPB only hit 7-of-26 shots for a dismal 26.9% and were outrebounded 70-22.
Two players had double-doubles for Marquette. Katherine Plouffe had 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Katie Young tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds. Arlesia Morse led all scorers with a game-high 19 points, while Lauren Tibbs had 10 rebounds.
Marquette led 58-27 at halftime and cruised in the second half. The largest lead of the game was 55 points for the home team. They led 96-41 in the closing seconds of the contest.
The Lady Lions continue their road trip on Wednesday at the University of Iowa.
