The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Jayme Selph as the head coach of the women's soccer program.

"I am pleased to name Jayme Selph as the next head coach of the UAPB women's soccer program," said Vice Chancellor Intercollegiate of Athletics Chris Robinson. "She has established herself as a rising star in the college coaching ranks during her time as an assistant with the Golden Lions last season. We were impressed with the vision she presented for the future of the team and her views on the holistic development of student-athletes, and we are excited to see her build on the program's track record of success in recent years."

Before her promotion, Jayme Selph played a significant role at UAPB as an assisntant last season in 2023. Her strong recruitment and player development skills were instrumental in leading the Golden Lions to a 9-11 overall record, its best season since 2016, and a 4-4-1 conference record, the program's best record in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play since 2015.

In 2023, the Golden Lions again finished with nine wins, completing the program's best two-year stretch since 2010-2011. During the past season, UAPB led the SWAC in scoring, finishing 18th nationally in total goals (49), 20th nationally in goals per game (2.33), and coached the Defensive Player of the Year.

Before her coaching career, Selph played professionally with the Little Rock Rangers and Arkansas Wolves Women.

A native of Benton, Arkansas, Jayme Selph played collegiately at Central Baptist College, where she received her bachelor's degree in Secondary Education.  In three seasons, she was named on the All-Academic team three years in a row, second all-time goalkeeper in wins, top-five all-time goal against average and minutes.  Her outstanding performance as a player was recognized when she was voted team Player of the Year.

"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to begin my collegiate coaching journey here at UAPB," said Selph. "I'm excited to bring a new environment of energy, competitiveness, and passion to the soccer field. The soccer field has been the only place that I have gravitated to for as long as I can remember. Here's to another journey!"
