Nicole Mealing is in her third season at UAPB after being named Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator in July 2019.

Mealing played a significant role in bringing in one of the top recruiting class in the history of UAPB for the 2022-23 season, along with increasing the publicity attention for the Lady Lions on the social media platform.  

In her first season, she helped head coach Dawn Brown to lead the program to triple the conference win total (to six from two) as the Lady Lions qualified for the SWAC Tournament for the first time since 2018.

Prior to being named East Carolina University Interim Head Women's Basketball Coach on Dec. 26, 2018 and served in that capacity through the remainder of the 2018-19 season. Mealing started the 2018-19 campaign as an assistant coach at ECU, making it her third season as assistant coach and her seventh overall as a member of the Pirate staff.

She previously served as the Pirates’ video coordinator from 2012-16, handling film exchange and distribution for the coaching staff.

In addition to her role as the team’s video coordinator, Mealing also played an integral role spearheading the program’s social media visibility, producing newsletters and assisting the coaching staff with material for game preparation.

A 2010 Francis Marion graduate, Mealing played for the Patriots while former ECU head coach Heather Macy was at the helm of the program from 2007-10. She was a member of the 2010 team that posted a 27-5 overall record, led the country in steals per game, ranked second in both scoring offense and assists and held a No. 20 national ranking in the final USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 poll.
